Naval aviation
U.S. Naval Academy graduate · Retired Navy Commander · Helicopter pilot · Tactics and night vision instructor · Flight surgeon

Christopher M. Perry is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, retired U.S. Navy Commander, naval aviator, flight surgeon, emergency physician, and technical diving instructor. His career has taken him from the flight decks of Navy warships to the waters of the Caribbean, from counter-narcotics operations at sea to humanitarian missions in some of the world's most challenging environments.
Perry began his naval career flying helicopters, serving as a tactics instructor, night vision goggle instructor, and functional check flight pilot. He later attended medical school and returned to naval aviation as a flight surgeon, combining operational flying experience with military medicine.
His operational experience included two counter-narcotics deployments in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific, participating in operations that resulted in the interdiction of more than $600 million in illicit narcotics. He also led medical operations supporting fourteen countries in northern Iraq and deployed to New York City during the COVID-19 pandemic.
An experienced technical and rebreather diver, Perry is a diving instructor with more than 600 dives. His maritime background includes combat diver training, offshore sailing, and exploring wrecks and underwater environments throughout the Atlantic and Caribbean.
Today he practices emergency medicine and writes maritime thrillers grounded in naval aviation, intelligence operations, diving, medicine, and the complicated loyalties of people operating far from home.
His debut novel, The Bimini Signal, introduces Luc Rourke. Perry lives in Northeast Florida with his family. When he is not working or writing, he can usually be found on, in, or under the water.
